Speaking at the working session, Ngoc thanked the AFD for its assistance and creating favourable conditions for Ninh Binh to access its official development assistance (ODA) and non-refundable aid of the European Union (EU) in the past time.
AFD-funded projects such as Kim Dai sluice dam building project which helps prevent saltwater intrusion and supply water for agricultural production and daily life as well as responding to sea level rise in six southern districts and cities of Ninh Binh and a sub-project on improving urban infrastructure of Phat Diem in the coastal district of Kim Son, which will be carried out in the coming time as part of a project on improving urban infrastructure in four north central coastal provinces in order to mitigate climate change will play an important role in boosting Ninh Binh's sustainable development.
For his part, Fouet spoke highly of the cooperation between Ninh Binh and the AFD in implementing the Kim Dai sluice dam building project.
When completed, the project would help prevent saltwater intrusion and supply water for agricultural production, aquculture and daily life for over 830,000 people in six southern districts and cities of Ninh Binh.
He also expressed his hope that the project would help mark long-term cooperation between two sides and open up a new period of effective and sustainable partnership via the implementation of new projects such as the sub-project on improving urban infrastructure of Phat Diem.
Highly appreciating the AFD's sentiments to Ninh Binh, Ngoc promised to fulfill the project with the highest quality and responsibility. The provincial authorities are striving to complete and inaugurate the Kim Dai project to welcome the 30th anniversary of the re-establishmen of Ninh Binh province (April 1, 1992 - 2022).
After the working session, the AFD delegation paid a fact-finding visit to the Kim Dai sluice dam building project and localities where the sub-project on improving urban infrastructure of Phat Diem, Kim Son district, will be carried out in the time to come.
