Chairman of Provincial People's Committee works with French Ambassador

Present at the working session were Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Dien and leaders of provincial departments and sectors.

At the working session, Dien briefed the delegation about the province's socio-economic development situation as well as the progress of the Kim Dai sluice dam building project.

He also underscored the importance of the project to local people's life and agriculture production as many regions in Vietnam, especially coastal regions like Kim Son district, are facing sea level rise, saltwater intrusion and climate change.

The project is estimated to cost about 543 billion VND. It aims to prevent saltwater intrusion and supply water for agricultural production and daily life of over 700,000 people in six southern districts and cities of Ninh Binh.It is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

Dien thanked Warnery and the delegation for their attention to Ninh Binh, and expressed his hope that the Ambassador and the AFD would serve as a bridge to expand cooperative ties between Ninh Binh province and localities of France.

Warnery said the AFD has provided ODA capital for three major projects in the province. He took this occasion to thank the local administration for creating the best conditions for the AFD to implement these projects on schedule.

Besides these projects, the Ambassador also hoped to cooperate with Ninh Binh in other fields, especially irrigation and response to climate chance.

Right after the working session, the delegation paid a fact-finding visit to the Kim Dai sluice dam project site.
