The Republic of Korea topped the medal tally with seven gold, two silver, and eight bronze medals. They were followed by China with four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. Uzbekistan ranked third with two gold, one silver, and five bronze medals.
In the Kyorugi (combat) event, Vietnam won one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the women's category.
In the Poomsae (performance) event, the RoK continued to dominate with ten gold and three gold medals, followed by Iran with four gold, two silver, and five bronze medals, and the host Vietnam with two gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.
The 23rd Asian Taekwondo Championship was held by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation from May 24-28.
The tournament attracted nearly 700 athletes from 50 countries and territories.
According to President of the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, Truong Ngoc De, the events offered an excellent opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to gain experience before the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD) in August in Indonesia.
