The Party Committee and High Command of Army Corps 1 held a solemn ceremony on October 17 to receive a first-class Fatherland Protection Order and mark its 50th founding anniversary.

Attending the ceremony were Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang; former Ministers of National Defence General General Pham Van Tra and General Ngo Xuan Lich; Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army General Nguyen Tan Cuong; and Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh.
Ninh Binh's leaders and representatives of some departments, units and agencies also attended the event.

Speaking at the event, Commander of Army Corps 1 Major General Truong Manh Dung recalled the process of building, fighting and development of Army Corps 1 over the past 50 years.
During the resistance war against US imperialists, officers and soldiers of Army Corp1 attacked and destroyed some important military bases of the US army; and sent thousands of officers and troops to fight to protect the southwestern border and the northern border in 1979.
In the new revolutionary period, Army Corps 1 has successfully completed all assigned missions and strived to build a modern, well-trained military unit.
With its achievements and contributions, Army Corps 1 was honored with a first-class Fatherland Protection Order.
At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang handed over the first-class Fatherland Protection Order to Army Corps 1.

Hailing the unit's achievements, General Phan Van Giang asked Army Corps 1 strictly and effectively carry out its assigned tasks, and implement the Party's views and policies in defence and military affairs and Fatherland protection.
Giang requested Army Corps 1 to take synchronic measures to build a streamlined and strong unit; improve the spiritual and material lives of soldiers; build pure and strong party committees and organization; promote the pioneering role of officers, party members and heads of units to lead and command their units to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks.
