Members of the Trade Union and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development's Branch in Ninh Binh province, in collaboration with the HCYU of Gia Thang commune in Gia Vien district on March 28 planted 1,600 trees in the locality.
This was part of the programme "Agribank - For the green future, more trees - more lives". The trees were grown around the headquarters of the People's Committee of Gia Thang commune and along a road connecting Gia Thang commune with Gia Lap commune.
Agribank has carried out the programme in localities across the country in response to the tree-planting festival launched in 1959 by President Ho Chi Minh and the drive to grow 1 billion trees, which was initiated by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Through this activity, Agribank's Branch in Ninh Binh province wants to spread and raise public awareness of environmental protection, and create more green spaces along inter-commune roads, thus changing the face of rural areas.
Agribank's Branch in Ninh Binh is one of the biggest commercial banks in the province. It has maintained high growth and efficient business activities over the past years.
The branch has also paid due attention to implementing community activities, helping to ensure social security in the province.
