The project aims to better urban infrastructure in coastal town of Phat Diem, Kim Son district, where climate change impacts, saltwater intrusion, coastal erosion, and drought have been taking place severely.
It consists of two components with the first part focusing on dredging rivers, building roads along the banks of the rivers, constructing four bridges over the rivers and building a waste water treatment facility.
The second part covers technical assistance in project management and investment realization.
Speaking at the working session,Chairman Dien affirmed the importance of the project to Kim son district in particular and to Ninh Binh province in general. Ninh Binh hoped to receive funds from AFD and the EU, he added.
Dien also expressed his wish that AFD will support Ninh Binh to complete the project file in compliance with the AFD regulations and procedures.
AFD representatives said that the project is eligible for AFD's fund, therefore,AFD will soon submit the project file to the EU to call for co-sponsors.
Besides, AFD will ask international consultants to help Ninh Binh design works in the project making them fit for factual conditions of the locality. If it works, the project will commence in the second quarter of 2018.
