AFD delegation pays field trip to French-funded projects in Kim Son district

The Kim Dai sluice project aims to prevent saltwater intrusion, respond to sea level rise and supply water for agricultural production and daily life  six southern districts and cities of Ninh Binh province. The project was completed and put into operation in April 2022.

The sub-project on improving urban infrastructure in Phat Diem town is part of a project on improving urban infrastructure in the four north-central coastal provinces. It aims to improve urban infrastructure, stabilize the socio-economic situation and minimise impacts from climate change.

Construction of the project started in Octorber 2022. Currently, work items on Phat Diem and Luu Phuong roads and frontage roads are being built while the site clearance has basically completed on schedule. To date, more than 224 billion VND has been disbursed.

The AFD delegation learned about the effectiveness, progress, advantages and difficulties of the sub-project on improving urban infrastructure in Phat Diem town while speaking highly of Ninh Binh's commitments in implementing the two projects as scheduled and ensuring quality.

Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh provincial People's Committee Nguyen Cao Son thanked the AFD for its funded-projects which help mitigate impacts from climate change and contribute to the development of a coastal urban area in Kim Son district.

Son also asked units to speed up the site clearance work in a bid to implement the sub-project as scheduled.
