Activities support flood victims

On October 22, hundreds of Youth Union members, youths in Hung Nguyen and Yen Thanh districts, Nghe An province dredged canals and ditches, clearing flows and helping to avoid further flooding. In Hung Nguyen district, more than 300 Youth Union members participated in the dredging of intra-field canals. In the morning alone, Hung Nguyen district completed the digging of more than 1,000m of the T16 canal, which is an important irrigation canal in the district, to ensure drainage during the rainy season this year.

On the same day, the Trade Union of Ministry of Industry and Trade has co-ordinated with Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency to visit and present gifts, worth VND100 million, to flood victims in Hoa Binh province.

The leaders of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) have checked the current situation of power supply, while they have also visited and presented gifts worth VND150 million to the authorities and people in Chuong My district, Hanoi that have suffered from the recent floods.

Ha Tinh province has recently decided to provide VND 23.44 trillion from the Provincial Relief Fund for poor households and policy beneficiary families in the flooded areas in order to repair or build their new houses.

Thanh Hoa province has also decided to approve the budget for repairing the road and landslide area of the Buoi river bank. Accordingly, the province will support VND3billion for repairing the road at Xang village, Thanh Tam commune, Nhu Xuan district and VND5.6 billion for repairing landslide area of the Buoi river bank at Tien Thanh village, Thach Dinh commune, Thach Thanh district. The province also approved VND18.3 billion to support the restoration of winter crop production 2017-2018. The amount is being deducted from the provincial reserve budget in 2017.
