The Prime Minister has given the nod to a plan to build a coastal road connecting the northern localities of Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
The PM asked the People's Committees of the six provinces and cities to coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and related ministries and branches to realize the project as stated in Decision 129/QĐ-TTg issued on January 18th, 2010 on a detailed scheme for Vietnam's coastal road.
As planned, the coastal route will be invested before 2020, except for the sections running through Thai Binh and Nam Dinh provinces which are to be constructed after 2020.
The localities were urged to work together with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to propose capital sources and report the issue to the PM.
Running through a total length of 160 kilometers, the coastal road is one of the key transport projects in the northern coastal area with its important role in boosting socio-economic development in there.
