Nearly 300 professional and amateur athletes from3 1 teams nationwide competed in 11 categories of this year's tournament. The categories included the 42-km marathon for men and women, the10-km and 5-km run events for professional athletes, and other events for young and amateur athletes.
The event also has attracted the participation of over 1,000 local people.
At this year's tournament, gold medals for women athletes went to Nguyen Thi Oanh-(Bac Giang province); Pham Thuy Hanh (Ha Nam province); Nguyen Thu Quyen (Thai Binh province); Nong Thi Huong (Dac Lak province); Ban Thi May (Lao Cai province) and Hoang Thi Thanh (Military team) who competed in different distances and categories.
As for men, gold medals were bagged by Do Quoc Luat (Military team); Le Trung Duc (Thanh Hoa province); Giang Van Dung (Ha Noi);Dinh Thanh Hue (Hoa Binh province); Huynh Van Binh(Gia Lai province) and Vu Van Son (Ninh Binh province).
Binh Phuoc province team has claimed the top position, while the host team, Ninh Binh, came in second.
The event was among activities to mark Vietnamese Sports Day (March 27) and the 71st anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's appealfor mass participation in sporting activities (March 27, 1946-2017).
It was also part of celebrations of the 25thanniversary of Ninh Binh's reestablishment.
