In her closing speech, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stated that the NASC reviewed the outcomes of the fourth sitting of the 14th NA and gave their initial comments on the preparations for the next meeting.
She asked the Secretary General of the NA to research and acquire the ideas raised at the session in order to finalise an assessment report on the outcomes of the NA's fourth sitting before sending it to NA deputies and relevant bodies, whilst continuing to prepare the projected working agenda for the fifth meeting and submitting it to the NASC at its future sessions.
The NA Secretary General was also urged to accelerate the communication work concerning the operations of the NA and its bodies, aiming to ensure the comprehensive and harmonious dissemination of the NA's operations to the voters and people nationwide.
During its 19thsession, the NASC reviewed the implementation of external activities and international cooperation in 2017, passed the committee's external affair programme for 2018 and commented on the external activities and international cooperation of a number of bodies under the jurisdiction of the NA.
Apart from approving resolutions on ratifying the proposal to appoint Vietnamese ambassadors to the United Nations and a number of other countries for 2017-2020, the NASC passed resolutions on the establishment of Ninh Cuong town in Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh province, the adjustment of Government bond capital during the 2012-20215 and 2014-2016 periods, and the adjustment of the investment plan on housing support during 2016-2020 for people who contributed to the revolution.
Furthermore, the NASC looked into a report on the results of the supervision of the issuance of resolutions and the operation of centrally-run municipal and provincial People's Councils, whilst agreeing on the allocation of additional funding for the purchase of rice for national reserves, as well as on the policy to issue a Government decree concerning exhibition activities.
The NASC also considered the Government's proposal to promulgate policies to support the funding for the use of public irrigation products and services, whilst clarifying the jurisdiction to deal with compensation work for the affected houses and facilities, which are beyond the scope of land clearance projects to upgrade. They also deliberated on the expansion of the National Highway 1 section from the central province of Thanh Hoa to the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho, and a section of the Ho Chi Minh road crossing the Central Highlands. The senior legislator asked the Government to acquire comments and continue directing and implementing the work contents in accordance with its jurisdictions.
NA Chairwoman Ngan requested that the Standing Board of the NA's Ethnic Council, the Committees of the NA and the NA's Committee for Deputy Affairs work closely with the NA Secretary General to prepare the documents and announce the official conclusions of the NASC, aiming to provide a foundation for the relevant agencies to implement the committee's decisions. She also urged for active preparation of the contents for the working agenda of the 20th session of the NASC, scheduled to be held in January 2018.
